  GARAPA DECKING

An exotic timber imported from Brazil which is kiln dried and machined to 90mm wide by 20mm thick planks comes in lengths up to 5000mm long. Garapa is an especially stable timber and can be left untreated to weather to an ash grey colour.

  MACARANDUBA DECKING

An exotic timber imported from Brazil which is kiln dried and machined to 90mm wide by 20mm thick planks comes in lengths up to 5000mm long. Macaranduba is an incredibility dense timber and therefore hard wearing under foot.

  PINE DECKING - CCA TREATED

An exotic timber locally grown in SA which when CCA pressure treated has good fungal & insect resistance, is machine into a 110mm wide by 32mm thick plank - comes in lengths up to 4200mm long. PINE is probably the most cost effective type of decking.

  SALIGNA DECKING - Tan in colour

An exotic timber locally grown in SA & Swaziland which is kiln dried and machined into either 70mm or 90mm wide by 20mm thick planks - comes in lengths of 1200mm up to 2400mm. SALIGNA has good durability and is cost effective.

  TEAK DECKING - Red/Brown in colour

An indigenous timber to Africa imported from Zambia or Zimbabwe which is kiln dried and machined into either 70mm or 80mm wide by 20mm thick planks - comes in lengths of 1200mm up to 1600mm. TEAK is very durable and aesthetically pleasing.

  MERANTI - Brownish in colour

An exotic timber import from Indonesia in raw form which is kiln dried and machined locally into a variety of sizes with lengths up to 4000mm long. MERANTI is and very durable timber and is perfect for the construction of balustrade.

  General Specifications for the Construction of Timber Decking

Timber Substructure to be supported by CCA Pressure Treated Gumpoles 100-125mm dia (were necessary) or to be fastened to existing concrete structure using sleeve anchors and / or nail in anchors.

CCA Pressure Treated Gumpoles to be concreted into ground with a 500mm deep x 350mm dia pad.

Substructure to consist of CCA Pressure Treated Pine - Bearers being 38x114mm mechanically laminated to give a 76x114mm at +/- 2.0m centres with a span not exceeding 2.0m - Joists being 38x114mm at 400mm centres with a span not exceeding 2.0m.

All fixings to substructure to be galvanised e.g. nails & sleeve anchors etc.

Decking to be either 70mm or 90mm wide planks depending on availability by 20mm thick.

Decking to be fixed to Substructure using 45mmx 10gauge plated chipboard screws countersunk and filled with a polyester body filler tinted to match Timber colour or as close as possible.

Decking to be sanded and sealed with Linseed Oil based penetrating Wax - Satinwood Base 28 or Rystix TIMBACARE which is a long life UV resistant acrylic sealer.
